Матрица вторых частных производных функций нескольких переменных: Определитель этой матрицы называется гессианом. Характеристика матрицы Гессе (ее отрицательная или положительная определенность и полуопределенность) служит условием для определения вида стационарной точки: является ли она, соответственно, максимумом, минимумом или седловой точкой в задаче оптимизации функции.
